My Philosophy and Methods

What

Preserve when possible
Repurpose when preservation is not possible

Why

I feel it’s important to let the soul of the tree live on. It’s as simple and as complex as that.

When we allow the tree to continue to be useful we are doing our part for conservation and we’re being respectful of the tree. Instead of fighting nature by simply cutting down the tree and then burning it or hauling it to the landfill, we are allowing that tree to to remain useful, we embrace its beauty.

How

If you’re dealing with a downed tree and would like to see it continue its full circle, contact me. I will haul it to my onsite mill and slab it out so it can dry.

Eventually, after the tree is slabbed and dried for a few years, it can be repurposed as furniture or crafted into bowls, boxes and other useful or decorative items. Some clients request a slab from the tree or perhaps a turned piece (box, bowl, platter etc.) with the understanding that the wood must dry for several years first. I will always try to honor these requests when possible.

Have questions? Want to see what I have for sale (I have finished pieces as well as slabs)? Want to discuss a commissioned piece? Have a tree that you’re cutting down, or has fallen and you’d like to recycle it?

Contact me and let’s talk.
